On April 25, Vice President of the Foreign Affairs in Rutgers University Eric Garfunkel visited Jilin University, Council Director Yang Zhenbin, Chairman of the Academic Committee, Feng Shouhua, and Executive Vice President Chen Gang met him. On behalf of JLU and Rutgers University respectively, Chen Gang and Eric signed Cooperation Agreement on the United Nations and Global Policy Research Graduate “4Plus1”Project. Assistant Principal and Dean of School of International and Public Affairs Liu Debin, and leading officials from International Cooperation and Exchange Department and Academic Affairs Office attended signing ceremony.
Yang Zhenbin extended heartfelt welcome to Eric Garfunkel and sincere gratitude for hospitality by Rutgers University during the visit of April last year, and his congratulations on reaching Joint Training Project on United Nations and Global Policy Research Graduate. And he also hoped that partnership cultivated deeply and extensively on the basis of existing one. Eric Garfunkel reviewed the development of partnership between the two universities and also emphasized the United Nations and global policy research was key areas of cooperation with huge potential between the two universities. Meanwhile, he will make every effort to further promote cooperation and exchanges between JLU and Rutgers University. In addition to high-level experts and scholars exchanges, Garfunkel also said that Rutgers University will send more undergraduate students to learn in Jilin University.
On April, 2015, delegations of Jilin University visited Rutgers University. School of International and Public Affairs of JLU and Liberal Arts College of Rutgers University began negotiations about Joint Training Program on the United Nations and Global Policy Research Graduate, and finally we reached an agreement. The basic content of the agreement was that senior undergraduate student from School of International and Public Affairs of JLU met the requirements of graduate enrollment at Rutgers University and accomplished their the first year of stud through the network. After completion of undergraduate study and acquired Bachelor degree of JLU, they needed to study at Rutgers University for the completion of the relevant courses to obtain Master’s degree.
Founded in 1766, Rutgers University boasts a long history, and is the world’s top 100 universities. Jilin University established partnership with Rutgers University in early 1979. It is the first partner universities in the United States, so does the Rutgers University.
